Akshaya Patra gets award for excellence

The Akshaya Patra Foundation has been awarded the Gold Shield and Hall of Fame by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the year 2012-13.
Manish Tiwari, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, and Justice G.S. Sistani, Judge, Delhi High Court, presented the award at a function held in New Delhi.

RK Tewari is the New Chairman

RK Tewari to be the New Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex authority of the Income Tax department.
Tewari is a 1976 batch Indian Revenue Service officer. He is at present posted as the member in the CBDT and will take over the top post on March 1 as incumbent chairwoman Sudha Sharma is scheduled to retire on February 28.

Abhinav Bindra wins two gold medals in Inter Shoot Tri series Shooting at The Hague, Netherlands on 7 February 2014. He won his first gold on 6 February 2014.
The 31-year-old Indian had won his first medal in this Tri series competition yesterday with a qualification score was 613.7. He was at 8th position in pre-qualification round.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni becomes fourth batsman to complete fastest 8,000 ODI runs on 31 jan 2014. Mahendra Singh Dhoni complete 8,000 runs in one-day cricket during the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand in Wellington on Friday.
Dhoni has taken 214 innings to touch the landmark and Sourav Ganguly (200 innings), Sachin Tendulkar (210 innings) and Brian Lara (211 innings) in the list of fastest batsmen to score 8000 ODI runs.
Dhoni has surpassed the likes of Saeed Anwar (218 innings), Desmond Haynes (219 innings), Ricky Ponting (220 innings) and Chris Gayle (221 innings).
